I think every Clevelander has asked themselves this question- "Who has the best pizza in the area?"
I still don't know the answer after four years of mildly searching, so I put the question out to you. Who has YOUR favorite pizza around? And why? Because pizza is a very subjective and personal thing.
Last Thursday, I finally tried the pizza at Edison's Pub/Edison's Pizza Kitchen in Tremont. It was a little too greasy for my personal taste (look at how soaked the paper is), and the crust was overcooked and hard to bite through. It was fresh though, that I do know. Dining Deals alert- two slices and an order of breadsticks was only $9.
We've really only had pizza close to home, with the exception of Danny Boy's in Rocky River. So maybe I need to venture out further to find "my" favorite pizza in Cleveland. Where would you send me?

Edison's pizza is really good...and I love how you can buy per slice. My favorite place around town is Romeo's. So good! But I am like you, I haven't ventured out much beyond my comfort zone and it isn't something I order when I am out to dinner...but all pizza is good pizza!
Angelo's and Danny Boys pizza are my absolute favorite. Angelo's is our go-to, though. :)
I like Angelo's a lot and Edison's (I get your point about the grease, though). I love their ham and pineapple pizza because they pile on the toppings.
They're my favorites so far but I agree - I'm still on a search for the best.
Dewey's on the west end of Lakewood is AMAZING!
Mama Santa's in Little Italy!! I lived within walking distance from there one summer, and I had it at least once a week! Amazingly delicious!
I love pizza so much that I have to categorize it to even think about choosing a favorite.
Mamma Santa's once made that list, but I swear they served canned mushrooms once and that turned me off so much that I haven't been back. I need to visit again, as I love their sauce.
Crostatas is my favorite traditional style pizza. It's as close to true Italian pizza as I've found locally and their DOC Margherita is incredible.
I also really enjoy the pizza at Lolita and Bar Cento. However, the last few times I've had the SunnySide, the pancetta wasn't all all crispy and it actually turned me off to it.
Beach Club Bistro occasionally offers a Noble Beach pizza with a spicy salsa base, pineapples, ham, bacon and a blend of cheeses. It's not thick, but is my favorite hand tossed pizza around. They have a Winter pizza special for the next few Sundays and Tuesdays. (No Noble Beach, but the others are great, too.)
I didn't enjoy Angelo's (too sweet, too greasy) or Edison's (as you said, too greasy) and I also wasn't a fan of Sweet Basil's (fresh basil was cooked and became bitter.) I'm hoping to get to Flour and Light Bistro soon, to try their pizzas.
I echo Renee's comment - Crostatas is my favorite. I haven't been to Mama Santa's in forever so I can't say but I remember it being my favorite.
mmmm Danny Boys and Romeo's!
Angelo's and Dewey's are my absolute favorite!
Geracis's is on of our favorites. Great sauce, perfect crust (crisp but chewy), and plenty of cheese. I'm not a fan of Dewey's (overly bready crust, overly sweet sauce). Making your own really good pizza is also pretty easy, especially if you buy the dough (TJs, Heinen's, WF) and own a pizza screen. All you need for a excellent sauce is to saute a few chopped / crushed cloves of garlic in plenty of olive oil, then add 28 oz. of crushed (or chopped) San Marzano tomatoes and some salt, pepper and oregano. Cook the sauce for 15 minutes, then roll out your crust thin, place it on the pizza screen, then add sauce and toppings and bake for 10-15 minutes in a preheated 500 degree oven.
I looove Edison's pizza... their white blue cheese pizza is my favorite! The spinach bacon is also very good.
Those sound way better than what I had!
Looking at this post bc Todd and I are going there on Thursday. I've been wanting to try it for awhile - I'll let you know what I think. My favorite pizza (so far) is Dewey's and Angelos. Both Lakewood spots - haven't ventured out much to try other pizza yet!
