On to the post for the day... "R's" grandmother lives in Brecksville, so we often find ourselves trying new-to-us restaurants in that area when we visit her. Last time, this led us to 2182 Brecksville.
I heard that the Panko Crusted Pork Schnitzel with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, Braised Red Cabbage, and a Honey-Dijon Sauce ($17.50) was a specialty, so I had to order it.
The potatoes were nothing special, but made sense with the dish. Some herbs or butter would have kicked them up a notch. Overall, it was a fine dish and certainly worth the price tag.
"R" wasn't thrilled with his meal either- a combination of the flatbread of the day ($9) and the Tempura Fried Colossal Shrimp with Yuzu Dressing ($10). The mushroom flatbread was decent (we've had better), but the shrimp were overly breaded and bland.
But I still think that we'll stop in again, on another visit to his grandma's. It was an intimate setting that allowed us to talk easily, and several other dishes on the menu sounded appealing.
